Keiko Ono Aoki, Chairman and CEO of Benihana of Tokyo, Inc. is a successful international business woman following the legacy of her husband, late Rocky Aoki, the founder of the Benihana restaurant chain.
A former Miss Tokyo, Keiko Aoki emigrated to America twenty years ago hoping to succeed it in the business world, at which she quickly did. Combining her Japanese heritage with new found connections, she established a global consulting firm, Altesse Co Ltd, to further trade with Japan, other nations, and the West.
Mrs. Aoki has provided strategic advice to companies including the German pharmaceutical company, Bayer, on new product development, a major U.S. hotel chain on expansion into the Japanese market; Sara Lee's expansion into the Japanese market by introducing the world famous Wonder Bra; and a business project for the Balearic State government in Spain.
After her marriage to Rocky Aoki in 2002, Keiko focused her energy on further developing Benihana's global expansion, which is also her current focus.
Keiko Aoki is on the executive committee for "Japanese Food, Culture and Hospitality" the mission of which is to promote tourism through Japanese food culture and hospitality since 2008 after her husband Rocky Aoki passed away. As the start of her introducing Japanese food in American market, she has published a healthy organic cookbook "Easy & Healthy Japanese Food for the American Kitchen" in 2007.
Her passion for food kept growing and to carry Rocky Aoki's legacy, in 2008 she decided to open a Japanese catering company, "KEIKO AOKI", to introduce the Japanese home cooked experience to New Yorkers food lovers and in 2010 she developed ready – to - eat healthy Japanese food under the brand name of "KEIKO AOKI inner makeup". Rocky Aoki introduced Japanese food to the American market; she will introduce healthy Japanese food to American kitchen for concerning growing health issues.
Mrs. Aoki was born in Tokyo and has resided in New York City since 1989 in her favorite building Olympic Towers on Fifth Avenue.
She has graduated from the University of Hawaii and completed the Owner President Management OPM a three year courses at Harvard Business School in 2004.
